Closer and Closer...

Its getting really close to the day i leave MALAYSIA and reach for INDIA. Somehow the closer it gets, the heavier my heart becomes to leave. I had great memories with friends from high school and college life, but most importantly I am goin to miss my family. The house is going to be real quiet as my bro and I will be overseas and my dad will be back only on weekends. Hopefully my sis and mum can cope with this change, anyhow we had spent the whole life together, and this is the first time we are parting for a period of time.

I really appreciate all the support of my friends when I was at the downturns of life(January 2006) where I was faced with problems in entering a medical uni. But most IMPORTANTLY, I am really thankful and glad that my FAMILY was so encouraging and did so much for me to enter my medical uni. My MUM was really the person who dwelled on every detail and called up the medical unis SO MANY TIMES trying to know the updates. My DAD came in with his words of wisdoms and fundings for my studies. My SIBLINGS were always there to cheer me up and being understanding of the situation. With all these efforts and sacrifices given to me, I will commit and dedicate my results in MMMC to them where I will put in more than I have ever done for anything in my life. This I believe is the only way I can come back and face them and say, "I'm here all thanks to u all and your efforts were never in vain as I am the proof of the outcome."

I THANK U ALL!!!!

Patch Adams

WOW! Jz watched Patch Adams acted by Robin Williams. That show is so meaningful and shows another perspective of the medical career. After meeting my teachers in secondary school and reading through medical articles, I actually thought of changing my personality to a more serious person. However after watching this movie, I think I will follow his footsteps and be myself although I m studying medicine. I will change my working habit to a more positive one but will never change my cheerful and happy personality.

Some important things I learn from the movie :
1) Why do you want to pursue medicine?
Coz i want to connect with patients
Improve quality of patients' lives

2) In curing a disease, there is always winning and losing and you might cause the patient to die or to heal. However if you always make the patient laugh and feel happy, you always win!

Work

Mistakes

Johnny Cash

Centering

  • Simple Breath Awareness

  • While involved in whatever you are doing, bring some attention to your breathing for just a few moments... it needn't be your full attention... just enough to bring you back to your calm center. Breathe naturally, or perhaps just a little more slowly and deeply.

  • Reclaiming Your Energy

  • When you are feeling stressed and scattered, take several slow, deep breaths. With each in-breath, imagine you are pulling all of your scattered energy and attention back to your inner self... your calm center.

  • Letting Go

  • This centering technique combines breath awareness with the phrase or mantra, "Let go." It is especially helpful when you are tense and/or fixating on a stressful situation or a negative thought or emotion.
As you inhale, (silently or aloud) say, "Let"
As you exhale, say "go"... while letting go of all that is stressing you.

  • Inner Sun

  • Imagine a bright sun filling your heart chakra... the calm, subtle energy field that permeates your chest area. Imagine that sun gently emanating peace and joy throughout your entire being.

    Steps of Energy Healing Meditation

    1. Sit reasonably straight and close your eyes.

    2. Breath slowly, as silently as possible.

    3. As you inhale, feel yourself breathing the healing Life Force in through your solar plexus. Picture this Life Force as a very refined, light energy.
    spacer

    4. As you exhale, gently direct this light energy to the afflicted area. If there is not a specific ailing area, disperse this light energy throughout your body as you exhale.

    5. Continue until you feel the area has received enough Life Force.

    A Way to Trigger Self-Confidence

Scan all your memories of your entire life, and pick out a time when you were feeling really great!

    HEAR the voices.
    SEE yourself at the moment
    see and FEEL your pleasure
SEE and HEAR the smiles of the others around you.

Say to yourself, as loud as you can inside our own head:

I remember the time when ....

I'm reexperiencing those wonderful feelings RIGHT NOW!

    I'm turning myself ON!

    Repeat to yourself every day:

    I win every day!

    It's not over...till I get what I want!

    Winners...

A WINNER always starts from where he is now with a fresh attitude.

A WINNER controls his own attitude.

A WINNER says "It may be difficult, but it's possible!"

Live daringly, boldly, fearlessly. Taste the relish to be found in competition - in having put forth the best within you.

    The Simplest Formula for Success

    Follow Winners, Avoid Losers.

    Before doing anything....

Let's start with straightening your spine.

Lift your shoulders and your chin up!

Take a nice deep breath and get that chest up high! (enter the sound of your deep inhaling)

Let your breath out when you want to.

Put a smile on those lips!

Put a gleam in those eyes!

5 Steps To Change Any Habit

Step 1: Write down specifically what you are trying to do and by when.

Step 2: What are the obstacles?

Step 3: WRITE a plan to overcome EACH obstacle.

Step 4: List the benefits to you.

Step 5: Is it worth it?

Success is on ongoing journey... not a destination.

The only time you fail is when you quit or never get up after falling down.

    The Habit of Identity

In a famous experiment, students were asked to take a lemon home and to get used to it. Three days later, they were able to single out “their” lemon from a pile of rather similar ones. They seemed to have bonded. Is this the true meaning of love, bonding, coupling? Do we simply get used to other human beings, pets, or objects?

Habit-forming in humans is reflexive. We change ourselves and our environment in order to attain maximum comfort and well being. It is the effort that goes into these adaptive processes that forms a habit. The habit is intended to prevent us from constant experimenting and risk taking. The greater our well being, the better we function and the longer we survive.

Actually, when we get used to something or to someone – we get used to ourselves. In the object of the habit we see a part of our history, all the time and effort that we put into it. It is an encapsulated version of our acts, intentions, emotions and reactions. It is a mirror reflecting back at us that part in us, which formed the habit. Hence, the feeling of comfort: we really feel comfortable with our own selves through the agency of the object of our habit.

Because of this, we tend to confuse habits with identity. If asked WHO they are, most people will resort to describing their habits. They will relate to their work, their loved ones, their pets, their hobbies, or their material possessions. Yet, all of these cannot constitute part of an identity because their removal does not change the identity that we are seeking to establish when we enquire WHO someone is. They are habits and they make the respondent comfortable and relaxed. But they are not part of his identity in the truest, deepest sense.

Still, it is this simple mechanism of deception that binds people together. A mother feels that her offspring are part of her identity because she is so used to them that her well being depends on their existence and availability. Thus, any threat to her children is interpreted to mean a threat on her Self. Her reaction is, therefore, strong and enduring and can be recurrently elicited.

The truth, of course, is that her children are a part of her identity in a superficial manner. Removing them will make her a different person, but only in the shallow, phenomenological sense of the word. Her deep-set, true identity will not change as a result. Children do die at times and their mother does go on living, essentially unchanged.

But what is this kernel of identity that I am referring to? This immutable entity which is the definition of who we are and what we are and which, ostensibly, is not influenced by the death of our loved ones? What is so strong as to resist the breaking of habits that die hard?

It is our personality. This elusive, loosely interconnected, interacting, pattern of reactions to our changing environment. Like the Brain, it is difficult to define or to capture. Like the Soul, many believe that it does not exist, that it is a fictitious convention. Yet, we know that we do have a personality. We feel it, we experience it. It sometimes encourages us to do things – at other times, as much as prevents us from doing them. It can be supple or rigid, benign or malignant, open or closed. Its power lies in its looseness. It is able to combine, recombine and permute in hundreds of unforeseeable ways. It metamorphizes and the constancy of its rate and kind of change is what gives us a sense of identity.

Actually, when the personality is rigid to the point of being unable to change in reaction to changing circumstances, we say that it is disordered. A personality disorder is the ultimate misidentification. The individual mistakes his habits for his identity. He identifies himself with his environment, taking behavioral, emotional, and cognitive cues exclusively from it. His inner world is, so to speak, vacated, inhabited, as it were, by the apparition of his True Self.

Such a person is incapable of loving and of living. He is incapable of loving because to love (at least according to our model) is to equate and collate two distinct entities: one's Self and one's habits. The personality disordered sees no distinction. He is his habits and, therefore, by definition, can only rarely and with an incredible amount of exertion, change them. And, in the long term, he is incapable of living because life is a struggle towards, a striving, a drive at something. In other words: life is change. He who cannot change, cannot live.

    Low Yat

Today was such a tiring day. I hate going to shopping complexs during weekends as there are so many people which makes it so stuffy and crowded. Left the house at about 1pm to Low Yat Plaza in KLwith family to get the necessary computer accessories such as webcam, pendrive, mic. Apart from that, I bought 6 DVDs which are King Kong, Real Madrid the Movie, Zorro, Kungfu Mahjong 2, The Descent and Memoirs of Geisha. I wanted to buy mp3 songs to bring over to India but no shops were selling it, wonder why. Then we had lunch in Shukudo which is a jap fused other asians delight. I had Tom Yam and nearly it nearly killed me coz it was too spicy. Then we went over to Sungai Wang to jalan-jalan.
Came back around 4.30 and was trying out the items i bought to make sure they are working. All worked and then i watched 2 DVDs...Real Madrid the Movie and Kung Fu Mahjong 2.
Now i am burning CDs which i am going to bring over to my future Uni...mostly songs.

    Blog Blog Blog

This is my first time creating my own blog to record the journey of my life starting from this day onwards (18th February 2006). The reason why I decided to start blogging is coz i want to look back on my life and recall the fragments of my past memories. As time passes, memories fade and start to wane from our minds as new thoughts replace them. So therefore i will make my life more meaningful so tat it looks presentable on this blog!
